About
About CommonContent
CommonContent is a catalog of content — a repository of information about works made available under licenses from the Creative Commons project, or in the public domain. For more information on the how's of CommonContent, check out our How It Works page.
The CommonContent catalog is open for content creators to add their work to, providing a central place for the public to discover new and useful content for use in derivative works — or whatever the license chosen by the copyright owner allows. If you manage content licensed under the Creative Commons, please register and add content.
We welcome your feedback. This site is a constant work in progress, and if you have any suggestions or notice any bugs, please let us know. If you're interested in helping us out, we'll find a way to put you to work. If you'd like to support CommonContent financially — to help cover hosting costs, send the editors on a "development retreat" to the Cook Islands, or that sort of thing — donations are gratefully received (not tax deductible, sorry).
An e-magazine on top of the catalog
Beyond the raw catalog, CommonContent publishes long-form essays on copyright, the digital commons, and contemporary digital arts in our Articles section. Pieces come from a rotating cast of contributors who care about the public domain and the future of open culture.
Friends & acknowledgements
This site wouldn't be possible without the work of many people and organizations — the staff and volunteers of Creative Commons, the early contributors who seeded the catalog, and the countless creators who release their work under open licenses.
The design of CommonContent is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License. Read more about this project on the Common Content wiki page.
